In this session, Ed Cook, PhD, and Roxanne Brown, CCMP, will share their research on how a cultural lifting, what they call growing Joy at Work, can have an impact on the success of a Change. The session will cover not only an outline of the research findings, including those from their booth at Change Orlando 2026, but also practical steps to increase Change success. This is a virtuous cycle. As the likelihood that people will adopt as intended increases, Joy at work increases. As the culture strengthens from increasing Joy at Work, the likelihood of success for the next Change increases.

Your Presenters

Ed Cook is a former Navy pilot who flew the C-2A Greyhound, a carrier-based cargo plane. After earning an MBA, Ed left active service to work for Corning and Capital One as an analyst and executive. In 2007, Ed was mobilized by the Navy and went to Iraq for a year to work on the staff of General Petraeus. Given his Capital One experience, Ed worked on rebuilding the banking system and economy of Iraq. Ed received his Ph.D. in Systems Modeling and Analysis from VCU and is now the President of The Change Decision, a change and culture consultancy focused on growing Joy at Work, as well as a Visiting Professor at the University of Richmond teaching analytics, operations, and statistics in the MBA and undergraduate business programs.

Roxanne Brown is the CEO of The Change Decision and a known change expert with 25+ years of experience in technology, policy, process, organizational, and culture change. Her background is in change management, communication, executive coaching, data quality, and risk management. She's a student of positive psychology and its application in Change. To contribute to the profession she loves, Roxanne spent several years leading the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP), serving over five years first as Vice President, then President, and finally as Past President and advisor to the Board. Roxanne has a BA in Liberal Arts and Leadership Studies from the University of Richmond. She's also a yoga instructor. Roxanne's thinking has inspired companies to look at business change as a lever for strengthening culture.
